Booyens, Anet

Figures and Refractions by Anet Booyens

Anet Booyens completed her Teaching Diploma at Goudstad College.

She completed in-house training at Perscor and was employed as a layout artist, illustrator and cover artist for textbooks and children’s books.  During this time she also freelanced as a layout artist for Bernina.

Anet studied printing processes at Artist Proof Studios (previously affiliated with Wits Technicon).  She proceeded to study Fine Arts at UNISA (partially completed due to family commitments.)

From 1989 to 2000 she was the featured artist for Solo exhibitions in Helderkruin, Florida, Three Rivers East (Vereeniging) and Alice Art Gallery.

As a Member of the WSSA (Watercolour Society of South Africa) she became part of several group exhibitions in the Free State (Welkom and Virginia) and Bryanston in 1995 and 1996.

Anet owned and operated a registered art school “Art-Ist” and taught privately as an art therapist for a number of years.

Other exhibitions include the opening of Kosmos Gallery as well as Pecan Wood Estates and Chris Tugwell Gallery in Hartbeespoort; Constantia Park (Pretoria) and Engandini Landscaping between 1999 and 2001.

She was also part of a Mosaic exhibition in Sandton in 2003 and was featured in the Zebra Register of South African Artists and Galleries (2002 & 2003).

Her works can be found in private collections in England, USA and Australia; and includes corporate commissions for, among others, Port Alfred Hotel and Health Spa.

Even after practising many other art forms Anet always returned to her first love:  Painting.

She has spent the past decade attending training courses by artists such as Peter Hall and Kobus Moller and mastering several new techniques, disciplines and styles independently.  Her newest collection “Figures and Refractions” embody her desire to create innovative, inspiring and emblematic works of art.
